Short Stories – Thriller, Suspense, Mystery. By J.V. Lind

Letter from the Author

Hello everyone and thank you for visiting!

I’m a writer & aspiring author using the pseudonym J.V. Lind. I will be using this name with most or all of my writing projects.

I’m currently working on writing my first full-length novel, which is an enormous undertaking and is, at times, stressful. As a “pantser” and a person with ADHD, having so many ideas jumbled around in my head and then actually trying to get it on paper is very challenging.

Because of that, it’s nice to take a little break every once in a while. I decided to use the same world from my future novel, with the same metaphysical rules, politics, and corruption, and create a whole new short story with it. It’s also my way of sharing a little bit of my world with my friends, family, and strangers. It’s meant to appeal to a wider audience than the novel.

The story is set around the year 2010, whereas the novel is set in 2022. So, in a way, this is a little bit like a backstory to my novel. The characters are completely different, but there may be some “crossed paths” later on in the story.

This is meant to be a story that the reader follows along with on a week-to-week basis. The goal is to have a chapter or two written per week, which the reader will catch up on before the next chapter or two are released a week later. Kind of like watching a television series where you have to wait a week for the next episode.

While there may be some trigger warnings needed in certain chapters of the story, there are certain topics that I will never write about. S.A. is one of those. I see absolutely no reason why that would need to be included in any of my stories, and “fridging” is something that I consciously make an effort to avoid as well. Knowing that I may end up having readers from every walk of life and from across the globe, I will add “FYI” warnings at the top of each chapter if I feel that they may be needed. I will try to be sensitive to how certain topics might affect some individuals, but I might not always get it right. FYI, though, there may be some disturbing content in my story, because that’s the nature of the world that it is set in. If that is not something you’re comfortable with, this might not be the story for you, and that is okay.

My stories include people of color and people of the LGBTQ community. I try not to make a big show of it; they’re regular people and they have a variety of roles in my story. Because I do not know what it’s like living as a person of color or a person in the LGBTQ community, I don’t wish to write as if I do. So it’s subtle. But they’re there, and they’re important. They’re heroes. And they have my respect; therefore, I try to avoid misconceptions and biases, stereotypes and anything else like that in my story. I apologize if I get something wrong. Please respectfully let me know if I do. I can always go back and edit my story.

All that said, I hope you enjoy my story. Feel free to comment, “like”, share, and/or subscribe to my content. I will try to post at least one chapter per week. With work, school, and life, that might not always happen.

Much love,

J.V. Lind
